CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
SPBC Open Group
A full-body strength workout designed to build muscle, improve conditioning, and keep you moving. Expect structured circuits using barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells.. This class is coached, scalable for all levels, and perfect if you want efficient training with a little intensity.
Applied Strength
This class focuses on progressing major compound lifts and accessory work with intention. Programming emphasizes proper technique, progressive overload, and individualized adjustments within a group setting. Ideal for lifters who want to get stronger, refine movement quality, and train with purpose beyond general fitness. Six months of SPBC open training is required to move into this group.
Powerlifting
The powerlifting team focuses on the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Sessions prioritize strength development, technical proficiency, and smart progression. Whether you’re new to powerlifting or preparing for competition, this class provides structured programming and expert coaching in a supportive environment. The powerlifting team is invitation only.
Yoga & Mobility
A restorative class designed to improve mobility, flexibility, and recovery. Sessions combine controlled movement and stretching to support joint health and reduce soreness from strength training. Great as a complement to your lifting routine - only available as an add-on class.
PRICING
All memberships and training options will be billed as monthly recurring payments rather than session-based packages. We recognize that this structure may mean you occasionally miss sessions due to illness, travel, or scheduling conflicts, and unused sessions will not roll over from month to month. To operate sustainably in a larger space with increased overhead, predictable monthly income is essential. This model allows us to plan staffing, programming, and equipment investments while continuing to provide a high-quality training environment for our members.

Best for experienced members who are comfortable lifting independently - only available as an add-on to classes. Add optional gym access to any class/training package for $45/month.
Sliding Scale Payment
We offer a limited number of sliding scale payment options to help make training more accessible. Sliding scale pricing is based on individual circumstances and allows clients to pay within a set range rather than a fixed rate. Availability is limited, and all requests are handled confidentially to ensure fairness and sustainability for our coaches and community. Current members will be able to apply for sliding scale payment in March 2026; however, you can let me know you’re interested here.
FAQ
Will the new gym be busy with lots of new members?
Like any gym, we will experience peak usage times—typically during the lunch hour and evenings. Careful capacity planning has been conducted to ensure SPBC does not become overcrowded. We currently have 56 members, approximately 75% of whom are active. To remain financially viable, SPBC will require a minimum of 77 members, all actively enrolled in a membership package. This projection assumes that a portion of members will opt into higher-level packages with add-ons, and the enrollment strategy will prioritize upgrading existing members before adding new ones to minimize overall growth demands.
To protect our community and maintain an environment that fosters genuine connection, open gym access will not be offered as a standalone option. This ensures members are engaged in classes and have opportunities to build relationships rather than training in isolation. While there is currently a waitlist, new members who are directly referred by existing members will receive priority enrollment.
Please ensure that you know any referrals personally and are confident that their values align with those of South Park Barbell Club. It is my mission to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all women, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, religion, or socioeconomic background. Individuals who hold racist, bigoted, or homophobic views, or who do not respect the dignity of others, are not welcome in our community.
Where is the new location?
Like our current space, the new location will operate as a private, members-only club. There will be no exterior signage and no public listing of the address online. Members will be expected to keep the location confidential to help protect the privacy and safety of everyone in our community. The new space is located in the building behind Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar on Pleasant Street, adjacent to a well-lit parking garage and still within a 10–15 minute walk from South Park.
What is the timeframe for the move?
We are aiming for an April 2026 opening; but, there is still significant work to be done. This includes finishing the floors, painting the walls, remodeling the bathroom and installing a standalone sink, as well as purchasing and assembling equipment. Preparing the space will truly be an all-hands-on-deck effort, and I don’t take for granted the time, energy, and support you are willing to give to help make this possible.
Will new classes be added?
Yes, we will be adding Yoga/Mobility classes, as well as additional time slots for our original open group training. While I can’t share a final schedule yet, the plan is to bring back noon classes and add some earlier morning options. We will also offer Hip-Hop dance classes; however, these will be available as a one-time purchase for each class block, as they will not run year-round.
What type of equipment will we have?
First and foremost, I am a powerlifting coach, so you can expect the initial equipment to prioritize racks, barbells, plates, dumbbells, and kettlebells before investments are made in cables and machines. Once the gym is sufficiently outfitted with the essentials, the next priority will be a high-quality cable setup, followed by additional machines such as a leg press and a hip thrust machine. We will be operating lean at the start, but profits will be reinvested back into the gym as quickly as possible.
What about that sauna?
We will be fully insured for this, though it is unlikely to be available at our grand opening. Adding a sauna is a goal for 2026; however, it will only be accessible during staffed hours in accordance with insurance requirements. At this time, I’m unable to provide estimated pricing for sauna sessions, but I will make every effort to offer rates that are competitive—and ideally lower—than others in town.
Are you hiring instructors?
I’m thrilled to share that Meagan Szorcinski is preparing to take the American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer examination. Meagan will be my first coach and will primarily lead open group training classes. Kaida Almase will be teaching our Hip-Hop dance classes.
We also have interest from someone looking to certify to teach a mobility class, and I welcome anyone else who may be interested in coaching to reach out. I require certification to ensure instructors are properly insured, but I strongly believe in creating new opportunities and am willing to cover the cost of training for those who commit to completing the certification and teaching afterward. Instructors are expected to uphold the shared values of our community and will co-coach with me for a minimum of six weeks before leading classes independently. Instructors will not be direct employees of South Park Barbell Club and, as such, I am unable to offer health insurance. All instructors will operate as independent contractors.
Will Leo be at the new gym?
Obviously.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I ask that you complete the form below to share your thoughts on the package offerings and the move as a whole. In addition, please indicate the package you would be most interested in—this is not a commitment, but it will help me project enrollment and membership numbers more accurately. If you are willing, I also ask that you indicate whether you would be able to assist in preparing our new space.
