Youth Girls
Strength Training
Building strength, confidence, and healthy bones—one rep at a time.
South Park Barbell Club offers youth girls strength training for ages 8–18 in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. This program introduces girls to resistance training, teaches foundational lifting skills, and helps them develop a positive relationship with movement that can last a lifetime.
Our focus is on what bodies can do, not what they look like. Girls will learn to lift safely, build strength, develop confidence, and experience the satisfaction of learning new skills.
Why Strength
Training Matters
Adolescence is a critical window for building bone density.
During puberty and the teenage years, bones are growing and accumulating bone mass. Building a strong foundation during this period is important for long-term skeletal health. Weight-bearing activity and resistance training provide mechanical stimulus that helps bones adapt and become stronger.
Regular strength training can also help girls develop muscular strength, coordination, balance, and physical confidence. Just as importantly, it gives them an opportunity to learn that exercise can be about feeling capable, gaining skills, and doing things they enjoy—not changing their bodies to meet an appearance-based ideal.
What to Expect
Participants will learn the fundamentals of resistance training, including proper technique, how to use equipment, and how to follow a structured workout. Training will be adapted to participants’ experience and developmental needs, with an emphasis on learning, consistency, and gradual progression.
Each participant will receive a personal workout folder to organize and track her workouts. Folders will stay at the gym, providing a simple, practical way to follow progress and stay engaged without relying on a phone during training.
No previous strength-training experience is necessary.
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to girls ages 8–18.
Children develop at different rates, and younger participants may need additional support as they learn to navigate a gym environment. Girls ages 8–10 may benefit from having a parent or caregiver present to help them follow instructions, stay engaged, and feel comfortable participating.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where girls can learn at their own pace and develop skills that grow with them.
Membership & Enrollment
Youth girls strength training is available for $75 per month, billed automatically as a monthly add-on to a parent’s existing South Park Barbell Club membership.
This structure allows families already part of our gym community to introduce their daughters to strength training in a familiar, supportive environment.

Strong Girls,
Strong Foundations
Girls deserve the opportunity to learn how to lift, build strong bones, and feel confident in their physical abilities. By introducing strength training during these formative years, we can help make movement a positive, sustainable part of their lives.
Our goal is simple: help girls get stronger, learn new skills, and recognize their own capabilities.
